"Grammy-nominated composer Austin Wintory and the Chicago-based Fifth House Ensemble("conviction, authority and finesse," New York Times) team up to present the first fully interactive live performance of the musical score to the video game Journey. In this unprecedented collaboration, live musicians respond to the actions of game players in real time on stage. The tour kicks off this February with a premiere at the Music and Gaming Festival (MAGFest)."
I chose to back the project called "Journey Live" a while back. Journey is one of the the very few short games (2 hours of content) that I find very very emotionally touching and felt like it was almost too much to take in for just 2 hours of gameplay. One part of the game that makes it so successful is undoubtedly the music. To bring the music in the game to a live concert setting is just incredible. I also personally love Austin Wintory as a composer myself, so this is definitely a no-brainer. Judging that it was funded in its first 2 hours of launch,
The concert started kicking off its first show at MAGFest on February 20th and will start its first "tour" shows on February 29th. I backed the project on Kickstarter for $25 getting a concert ticket to one of the shows at StephenWolfe theater in Chicago, their very first show of the tour after the premier at MAGFest. The show was really amazing and I thought that it was worth every penny.
